Explain briefly how a Language Laboratory can be used in teaching English in a
Secondary School. In your opinion, would language laboratories be of use if they
were introduced in Kenyan classrooms? Support your answer.

Explain how Language Norms are developed and how an English language
teacher can carry out norms-based teaching and assessment in the classroom

collection procedure in English language research?

In your opinion, what are the factors that have made Kenya be unable to provide
enough teachers in Primary Schools, forty four years since independence?

Discuss the Unit Method of teaching English language by stating the five stages
in Herbarium System of teaching. Then describe the steps you would have to
follow to develop a unit for an elementary level class.

teaching. Say which one you would choose to teach grammar in an English
language classroom, and why.

Discuss three models that a teacher can use in integration of language and
Literature. Which one do you think would be most beneficial to learners in
developing English language?

Supervision of teacher trainees is part and parcel of teacher preparation. Explain
two methods that are used in Kenya to supervise pre-service teachers when they
are on teaching practice, and say whether the methods used are suitable.

proficiency that explicitly or implicitly inform current approaches and methods in
language teaching (Anthony 1963). State one teaching method that is based on

(CALL), stating five benefits of using CALL.

a)
Explain with examples from English language research, the difference between
qualitative and quantitative types of research. Say in what circumstances each
can be used.

What do you understand by internal and external reliability in research? Explain
two problems English language researchers face in trying to safeguard internal
and external reliability.
