Q3. i. Infotech is a medium sized company engaged in marketing and distribution of IT products and
components. The company has recently entered into collaboration with a foreign company with the
objective of expanding its domestic as well as its export shares. Considering the fact that the
Company started on a moderate scale and market has been steadily growing, what steps should the
company take in the area of human Resource planning and by which process can the company
become more competitive in terms of human resources? Illustrate your answer with appropriate
concepts and practical examples. 10 marks

Q4. Supporting your argument with relevant motivational theories, discuss motivation as an important
tool in the hands of management to enhance employee productivity 20 marks
Q5. i. Performance appraisal is increasingly gaining importance in the corporate sector in Kenya and
elsewhere, but with a difference. Explain the new developments being proposed to make
performance appraisal more meaningful. Illustrate with appropriate arguments and suitable
examples the benefits of performance management approach and examine the conditions which
would be conducive to convert the employee capabilities into performance. 14 marks
ii. ‘if collective bargaining is given its due respect by both management and employer can be the best
tool in maintaining good Industrial relations thus enhancing
