INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
• Answer three questions only.
• Questions one and two are compulsory and in question three, choose only one of the optional texts.
• All answers should be written in the answer booklet.
This paper consists of 2 printed pages.
Candidates should check the question paper to ensure that all pages are printed as indicated and no questions are missing
ANSWER THREE QUESTIONS ONLY.
1. IMAGINATIVE COMPOSITION (COMPULSORY)
Either
a) Write a composition ending with the words;
“Never again shall I take things for granted.” (20mks)
Or
b) Write a composition agreeing or disagreeing with the statement; “ parents are the most
precious people in the world” (20mks)
2. THE NOVEL- ( COMPULSORY )
Using illustrations from the novel explain the meaning of the title ‘Coming To Birth’.
(20mks)
3. OPTIONAL SET TEXTS
Either
a) Using illustrations from Wangui wa Gero’s Heaven and Earth, Write a composition
about the problems facing African women.
Or
b) Write a composition on how odie fails to demonstrate any Shreds of Tenderness.
Or
c) Imagine you are Brenda in Velma Pollards’ ‘Home Stretch’. And you have spent a
month in your homeland. Write an account of your impressions of your homeland as well
as your feelings towards things and people around you. (20mks)
