1. Creative composition (Compulsory) (20mks)
Either
a) Write a composition illustrating the saying
Better the devil you know than the angel you do not know.
Or
b) Write a story ending:
From that experience I learnt never to blindly trust any friend again.
2. Novel (Compulsory) (20mks)
Most conflicts are due to struggle for leadership and dominance. With close reference to the
events in the novel The River Between, Write an essay that justifies this statement.
3. Optional Set Texts (20mks)
Either
a) The short story
“Half a Day and Other Stories”. (20mks)
Giving your illustrations from the story “who cares for the new Millenium” by Hama Tuma,
describe any two character traits of the African and the African ruler.
b) The Play
“Shreds of tenderness” (20mks)
With illustrations from Shreds of Tenderness, write an essay showing why Odie can be said to be
an evil character.
c) The Novel:
“Homestretch” by Velma Polland (20mks)
Velma Pollard has extensively used the letter Motif in “Homestsretch”. Describe three of these letters and explain their significance.
