1. Compare and contrast the second stage of personality development as outlined by S. Freud and E. Erikson in their human development theories. In your answer, clearly indicate the possible maladaptive malignant tendencies in childhood development during this stage.

2. Each of the socialization agencies is renowned for imparting specific types of socialization. Nevertheless, each of them has major weaknesses. Identify three major strengths and weaknesses associated with any four of the following socialization agencies:
i. Family
ii. Peer group
iii. School
iv. Mass Media
v. Religion
vi. State

3. a) Using clear examples, define and discuss the concept of socialization pointing out clearly the contribution of social interaction in the socialization process.
b) Discuss the concept of “Looking Glass Self” and outline the process of its development. Use examples to indicate the importance of the concept in explaining the role of caregivers in early socialization.

4. Compare and contrast the castration anxiety and penis envy experienced by male and female children during the phallic stage. How does the Ego’s way of resolving conflict lead to formation of gender roles and identities?
5. Clearly show the differences between Attachment, Imitation, Identification and Sex-typing and show the importance of languages in child socialization.
6. Using clear examples, define and discuss the following terms:
