SECTION A:

1. (a). Describe any three principles of communication. (6 marks)

(b). Your friend has problems in developing paragraphs in an essay. Advise him or her on how to ensure that there is unity and good organization of the paragraph. (8 marks)

(c). Differentiate between light reading and word by word reading. (4 marks)

(d). Using relevant examples, explain any two major sources of information. (4 marks)

(e). Some students do not listen attentively during lectures. Give and explain any four reasons why they do not concentrate on the listening. (8 marks)

3. (a). Explain why listening is different from hearing. (4 marks)

(b). We do not listen in the same manner all through as it depends on the purpose why we are listening. Describe the various types of listening. (16 marks)

4. (a). Develop a paragraph on your own topic and based on that paragraph. Identify the topic sentence, illustration sentence (s) and the clincher sentence. (12 marks)

(b). Explain any four aspects that ensures effective communication. (8 marks)

5. (a). Discuss the various aspects that you consider while tracing for a book in the library. (15 marks)
