Q1 a) What do you understand by each of the following?

b) In a laboratory experiment to prepare N-ethylethanamide (CH3CH2NH2COCH3), 10 g of ethanamine (CH3CH2NH2) were refluxed with 14 g of ethanoic anhydride (CH3COOCOCH3).
(i) Write a balanced equation for the reaction [1 mark]
(ii) Find the limiting reagent (show your calculation) [4 marks]
(iii) Calculate the theoretical yield of methanol [2 marks]


Q2 a) For the compound 2,3-dibromobutane [CH3CH(Br)CH(Br)CH3], draw the Fischer projection formula for all the stereoisomers, with enantiomers opposite each other. Label each chiral centre with the correct absolute configuration (R or S) and indicate the meso compound if any. [8 marks]
