INSTRUCTIONS:
Answer THREE questions.
1.There is no need to study African history since everything we know about the
continent is negative?. Discuss this statement by emphasizing the major
Eurocentric and Afro-centric debates in the study of African history.

2.Using concrete historical evidence, discuss the view that Africa is the ?Cradle of
Agriculture?.

3.Using at least two metals to illustrate your case, discuss the contribution of the
African continent to the history of metallurgy.

4.Discuss the relevance of studying the history of slave trade to the contemporary
student of African history and politics.
5.Discuss why the ending of the Cold War was not followed by a period of peace
and stability in Africa.
6.Either:
a)Decolonization did not bring the benefits for the majority of the African
people which they had hoped for?. Explain why you agree or disagree
with this assessment of decolonization in Africa.
Or
b)Discuss why Robert Mugabe was regarded as a hero in Zimbabwe in the
years 1980 to 1990, but had to face increasing opposition after 1990.

7.Critically examine the social, political and economic challenges facing African
countries in the twenty first century.

8.What do you understand by the concept globalization? Analyze the positive and
negative impacts of this process to African countries.
