This paper has two sections: Section I and section II.
Answer all the questions in section I and only two questions in Section II.

SECTION I (Answer all the questions in this Section)
1. State and discuss briefly four factors to consider in selecting the location of a farmstead. (8 Marks)


2. Describe two measures which can be taken to protect the foundation of a building. (8 Marks)


3. List the ingredients required for Compo Mortar Mix and explain the role of each ingredient. (8 Marks)

4. Stones can be used as building materials.

List four uses of stones as building materials.

(4 Marks)

Discuss two disadvantages of stones as building materials.(4 Marks)

5. Cattle generally respond favorably to good management made possible by suitable housing. State and explain briefly four factors improved by suitable housing. (8 Marks)

SECTION II (Answer only two questions in this Section)

6. If not controlled by proper drainage and maintenance, soil erosion can cause deterioration of a farm road within a few years. With the help of diagrams where possible, illustrate how each of the following contributes to improving road drainage.

7. Discuss five factors to consider when estimating the annual cost of a building. (15 Marks)

State giving reasons the maximum composition of the heard that the unit was designed to accommodate.

State the functions and give a detailed description of the part labeled E.

Discuss how the part labeled F should be managed for it to produce the desired results.

Mention and explain two adjustments that should be made to the design if it were for only one dairy cow with calves expected to be sold after just a few weeks.
