SECTION ONE

Question One

Discuss five reasons why building arrangement should be decided carefully in farmstead planning.

(10 marks)

List five building materials used for agricultural structures and for each material mention one advantage it offers compared to other alternative materials used for the same purpose.

(10 marks)

Discuss five features of a good milking structure.

(10 marks)

With diagrams where possible, describe a structure for poultry housing of your choice.

(10 marks)

SECTION TWO

Question Two
Mention and explain the importance of five factors to consider when designing and constructing a greenhouse. (15 marks)

Question Three
Discuss five functions of fences on the farm. (15 marks)

Question Four
Discuss five things to consider when choosing the location of a new farm road. (15 marks)

Question Five
Estimate the quantity of materials required to build a concrete floor slab for a farm building whose dimensions are 20m by 9m. If the slab is 20cm thick and the ratio to use 1:4:5 and the expected percentage of wastage is 10% while the percentage of shrinkage is 12%. Assume that the density of sand is 1500kg/m3 while the density of ballast is 1800 kg/m3. (15 marks)
