 Answer question ONE (compulsory) and any other THREE questions.
1. (a) Given a choice to start a partnership or a sole proprietor ship of Business, which one would
you start and why? (5 marks)
(b) In either of the case chosen in 1 (a) above, detail the registration procedure required
(5 marks)
(c) Discuss how the business operations are influenced by:
(i) Economic environment
(ii) Political/legal environment
(iii) Technological environment. (6 marks)
(d) (i) Discuss the various stages of business development and in each stage, suggest two
possible sources of funds that an entrepreneur can obtain for his business (9 marks)
(ii) What factors need to be considered before selecting each source of finance in 1d (i)
above? (5 marks)
2. (a) (i) Define a stakeholder in business (2 marks)
(ii) Explain the difference between a primary and secondary stakeholder. (2 marks)
(b) Business interacts with society in a variety of different ways. Identify a company’s
relations with different to stakeholders. (5 marks)
(C) Identify four responsibility areas and explain ways in which business should be socially
responsible to them. (8 marks)
(d) State the appropriate steps a manager can take to motivate his/her subordinates (3 marks)
3. (a) Discuss the following;
(i) Economic development
(ii) Kenya’s biodiversity
(iii) Sustainable development
(iv) Chemical waste
(v) Economic growth (10 marks)
(b) Discuss the managerial functions and state how they are related to the functions of a
business firm (10 marks)
4. (a) In relation to wildlife:
(i) Explain the human –wildlife conflict and its effects on poverty levels
(ii) Discuss the contribution of wildlife sub-sector to the Kenyan economy
(iii) What are the challenges of wildlife management in Kenya (10 marks)
(b) (i) Explain the eight (8) millennium Development goals (8 marks)
(ii) Identify Kenya’s goals on the environment. (2 marks)
5. Although the Kenya’s vision 2030 economic blueprint aims at making Kenya an
Industrializing nation, there is still fear that this may not be realized unless, among other
factors, the goals on the environment are achieved.
(a) Discuss the various strategies and activities to achieve the goals of the environment.
(10 marks)
(b) Identify and explain the specific flagship projects for the environment in Kenya by the
year 2012 according to the vision 2030. (10 marks)
