SECTION A
1. Briefly respond to the following
a) Define Christian counseling (2 Marks)
b) List four goals of Christian counseling (2 Marks)
c) State the uniqueness of Christian counseling against secular counseling.(4 Marks)
d) Outline the five phases of the counseling process. (1½ Marks)
e) List four expected characteristics of an effective Christian Counselor. (2 Marks)
f) Why would a Christian counselor refer a counselee to another person. (3 Marks)

2. Christian counselors use several approaches in counseling depending on the
counselors experience, competence and nature of the counselee’s problem.
a) List the three approaches to Christian Counseling learnt in class (1½ Marks)
b) Briefly explain any one of the three approached in a) above (3 Marks)

SECTION B
3. Paul received Jesus Christ as his personal savior four years ago. It has however
been difficult for him to leave his old sinful lifestyles and he decides to seek for
counseling. Show how you would help him. (15 Marks)

4. Premarital counseling is a preventive type of counseling where the counselor
helps the counselee to prepare for marriage life through education and information.
a) Give four goals of premarital counseling. (2 Marks)
b) Show how you can prepare two young people who are getting married.
(13 Marks)
5. Most marriages are going through conflicts today. Show couples can be helped
to resolve their conflicts in a biblical manner. (15 Marks)

6. Peter is a first year student at the University of Nairobi has just been suspended
from school after failing his supplementary examinations. He is depressed and
you are called to help. Show how you would deal with his case. (15 Marks)

7. Discuss how you can help a person grieving over his/her loved one. (15 Marks)
