1. (a) Define the following terms:

(b) Why is it necessary for a pastor to study Christian Ethics? (2 marks)
(c) How can the “good” be recognized by a Christian? (2 marks)
(d) From a Christian ethics perspective, explain why and how Christians should get involved
and be in solidarity with people of other faiths. (3 marks)
2. Name and critique at least five theories that contrast with a Christian view of what is meant
by a morally good action. (20 marks)
3. Discuss briefly at least five distinguishing characteristics of Christian ethics. (20 marks)
4. Ethical systems can be broadly divided into two categories namely deontological and
teleological. Using examples and illustrations, contrast these two ethical systems.

5. Discuss a biblically sound position on any ONE of the following Ethical issues:
(a) Abortion
(b) Euthanasia
(c) Capital punishment
(d) Civil disobedience
(e) cloning
(f) Marriage and divorce (20 marks)
6. Jesus faced real moral conflicts but never sinned. Using biblical passages, qualify this
statement from a Christian ethics point of view. (20 marks)
7. (a) Briefly state what each of the following six major Ethical systems affirm:

(d) Unqualified absolutism
(e) Conflicting absolutism
