Question Four

Wanjiku is a 30 year old single unemployed college drop out from an extremely close kint quiet provoking family. She is admitted to Mathare hospital three weeks

after she painted everything in single black, green, red and white including herself. She was responding to a persistent male voice that told her that behavior would somehow solve the tribal problems in Kenya after the post election violence of 2008.

Wanjiku has been hospitalized for at least six previous occasions during the past four years as a result of some combination of command hallucinations’, persecutory delusions and being violent. She responds well to narcoleptics but hates to take the medication. She takes her medication irregularly and misses more outpatient appointments than she keeps. Her functioning between episodes is poor, has poor personal hygiene and disordered thinking where she hears people controlling her thoughts and actions. However when on medication, she is somehow better in appearance and speaks more coherently.

With evidence from the above case study, identify the disorder presented by Wanjiku.
