(a) Explain five (5) ways of preventing accidents in a workshop. [5 Marks]
(b) (i) What is the purpose of drawings to the metalworker. [1 Mark]
(ii) Line standards are important symbols wherever drawings are made and used. Illustrate five line standards. [2 ½ Marks]
QUESTION TWO
Describe two (2) ferrous metals and two (2) non-ferrous metals in common use. [8 Marks]

(a) Explain the major uses of an engineer’s cold chisel. [3 Marks]

QUESTION SEVEN
(a) The drive to a machine is as follows: - A 400 mm pulley on the mainshaft drives a 300 mm countershaft pulley. From the countershaft a 300mm pulley drives a 320 pulley on the machine. If the mainshaft speed is 250rev/min; estimate the speed of the machine (a) without belt slop, (b) With 5% slip. [12 Marks]
(b) Explain the following mechanical properties of metals
(i) Brittleness [2 Marks]
(ii) Ductility [2 Marks]
(iii) Elasticity [2 Marks]
(iv) Malleability [2 Marks]
