two disadvantages.

b) In a typical institutional library, appraise what should be considered as
the most relevant for selecting a database management system. (5marks)

QUESTION FOUR

You have just been hired to train undergraduate to develop a database driven website that shows the telephone extensions of KEMU staff. You are using PHP and MYSOL to demonstrate to the students.
a) Design a simple table that captures the vital details that should be stored
in the database. For each detail you must specify the correct type.
(8marks)


b) Describe the following steps using code or otherwise:

Opening a connection to MYSOL;
Specifying the database to be opened.
Reading the data from the database and printing each row.

Closing the connection.

QUESTION FIVE
a) You need to create a registration form with the options to enter a name, select a gender (only one selection is possible), enter a department and with an option list (combo box) containing the list of 5 courses that a student can register for. The form also has two buttons, to either submit or cancel. Write the HTML code required to create the option list. (10marks)


b) Create a PHP file with the correct code to receive the information submitted in the form above and save it to a database table. (10marks)
