Question One (30 Marks]
(a) Discuss what you understand by the term ‘consumer education’. Explain the importance of consumer education to the Kenyan consumer. [8 Marks]
(b) Consumer education promotes an understanding of the structure and systems within the market:
(i) Explain the benefits of an empowered consumer in decision making process. [8 Marks]
(ii) Discuss the various ways in which consumer power can be exerted in business and society. [6 Marks]
(c) Discuss the challenges facing consumer education in its role of informing consumers on purchase and consumption related decisions in Kenya. [8 Marks]

(a) What is consumer learning? [3 Marks]
(b) Discuss the implication and application of learning in marketing consumption decisions. [10 Marks]
(c) As a tool of learning, market research as been used by firms to understand consumer needs and wants. Explain the role of market research in helping individuals make rational decisions. [7 Marks]
Question Three
(a) Culture as an element of consumer behavior and education plays a critical role in shaping the way consumers adopt to the marketing environment. Explain the influence of cultural dynamics in making consumption decisions. [10 Marks]
(b) Explain the steps you would follow in making sure that you make a rational purchase decision. [10 Marks]
Question Four
(a) The Kenya Consumer Federation undertakes to inform and educate consumers on their rights and privileges to avoid consumer exploitation. Clearly explain the various consumer rights in Kenya. [10 Marks]
(b) By use of practical examples, discuss the role of the government of Kenya in consumer education. What are some of the initiatives being employed by the government to promote consumer education in the country? [10 Marks]
