(b) Explain the difference between mission (Missio Dei) and missions. (4 Marks)
(c) Discuss briefly the most difficult challenge in developing a biographical history of the
Christian missionary movement. (3 Marks)
(d) “The dispersion of the Jewish people was the greatest single factor in preparing the
world for the coming of the Messiah and the preaching of the Gospel.” Give your
response to this statement. (6 Marks)
(e) Discuss at least Six factors which led to the quick spread of early Christianity within the
Roman Empire. (6 Marks)

2. History of Christian missions indicate that Ecclesiastical power has been wedded with
political power to the detriment of spiritual power. Discuss this statement with an aid
of examples. (15 Marks)

3. (a) Discuss any Six difficulties facing world wide Christian missionary movement today.
(6 Marks)
(b) Regardless of the difficulties facing Christian missionary movement, discuss at least
Five encouraging signs and four unprecedented opportunities. (15 Marks)

4. Islams remains Christianity’s greatest rival in Africa. Discuss at least 5 reasons which make
Islam to have a strong appeal in Africa. (10 Marks)

5. Critique from a biblical perspective the following missionary strategies employed
during 3rd century A.D.
(a) Military measures adopted by Bishop Martin of Tours to ensure immediate results in
Evangelism. (3 Marks)
(b) Bishop Gregory Thaumaturgus allowing the Christians to substitute Christian festivals
for pagan feasts. (3 Marks)
(c) Mass movement (conversion) led by the Great Missionary Gregory the illuminator
which was sparked by the conversion of King Tiridates. (3 Marks)
(d) Using family ties, marriages and loyalties to heads of household as a means of recruiting
members of the church. (3 Marks)
(e) Ricci adopting the Chinese culture during his missionary work in china. (3 Marks)

6. Discuss at least Six emerging trends in Christian missions today. (15 Marks)

7. Discuss briefly what pioneer missionaries in Africa did wrong and Right. State the
missiological implications for each wrong or right discussed. (15 Marks)
