(a) Derive the three Newtons’ equations of motion. [6 marks]
(b) Differentiate between momentum and impulse giving the units for each.

(c) State the first and second laws of electrostatics. [3 marks]
(d) “Secondary cells are preferred to primary cells”. Justify this statement clearly explaining what happens during charging of a secondary cell. [4 marks]
(e) Compare the floppy disk to the compact disk as a memory device. [4 marks]
(f) State the first law of magnetism. [1 mark]
(g) State the Farady and Lenz laws of electromagnetic induction. [4 marks]
(h) Differentiate between direct current and alternating current. [4 marks]
(a) Differentiate between charging a body by conduction and charging a body by
induction. [4 marks]
(b) Two charges are separated by 0.5m. They are moved towards each other such
that the force between them increases by 60%. How far apart are they?

(c) Draw a circuit of three capacitors of 3µf each connected to a 24V voltage
source when connected.

(b) A jet catapult from an aircraft carrier uniformly accelerates a plane with a mass of
1000kg uniformly from launch to a launch speed of 320hmh-1 in 200 s. What is the magnitude of the net force on the plane? [7 marks]
(c) A rifle weighs 50 N and its barrel is 0.75m long. It shoots a 25g bullet, which
leaves the barrel with a speed of 300 ms-1 (muzzle velocity) after being uniformly accelerated. What is the magnitude of the reaction force on the rifle?
