Instructions: Answer any FOUR Questions.
Question One
Strategy formulation does not end when the process of implementation begins. Likewise, strategy implementation should not be postponed until strategies are fully specified. The two processes should overlap. Borrowing from the design and the process school discuss this statement. (25 Marks)
Question Two
The first concern in the implementation of business strategy is to translate the strategy into action throughout the organization. Discuss FIVE considerations for accomplishing this. (25 Marks)
Question Three
Delineate generic structural configurations and demonstrate how these configurations impact on strategic implementation. (25 Marks)
Question Four
Differentiate between restructuring and business process re-engineering and assess their value in strategy implementation.
(10 Marks)
Although effective implementation of strategy is important, it is not easy. Well formulated and appropriate strategies can fail when attempts to implement them are made due to implementation problems. Discuss the principal implementation problems that the public sector in Kenya has experienced in strategy implementation.

Strategy control is concerned with trucking the strategy as it is being implemented, detecting problems or changes in underlying premises and making necessary adjustments. Discuss FOUR basic methods in which the above can be achieved.
