1. Answer ANY THREE questions. Question ONE is Compulsory.

1. With reference to any plays you have read in this course, define and illustrate the following
concepts in drama
i. Dialogue
ii. Plot
iii. Character
2. Either (a) Consider at least three major characters in Sophocles’ King Oedipus and discuss
their relative importance and relationships among them. OR (b) Discuss the characters in
Becket’s Waiting for Godot and what they mean for the structure of the play.

3. What are the similarities and differences in acting in life and acting on stage? Do you think
the two kinds of acting complement each other?
5. With illustrations from any play you read as part of class requirement, discuss all the steps a
director goes through in preparing a script for production.
6. Review any other play (not yet discussed in the above questions), paying attention to the
mode in which it is written.
