1. Answer all questions in section A and any other two questions in section B

SECTION A (40 MARKS)
1. (a) List six ways in which syncronomy occurs in females in order to achieve
successful reproduction. [6 Marks]
(b) Describe the roles of male in reproduction and the consequences associated with
the failure of performance. [4 Marks]
2. (a) Explain the difference in placementation between the cow, bitch and sow
[6 Marks]
(b) Distinguish between physiological oedema and witch’s milk. [4 Marks]
3. Using examples, explain how a narrow birth canal causes dystocia in a cow.
[10 Marks]
4. (a) List (5) factors necessary in order for a female to achieve fertility. [5 Marks]
(b) Give (2) reasons for pregnancy diagnosis and mention three management methods
that can be used in diagnosis. [5 Marks]
SECTION B (answer any two (30 Marks)
5. Discuss the physiological changes and behavior of a ruminant female in the five phases of estrous cycle. [15 Marks]
6. With aid of diagrams explain the differences in these fetal disorders i.e Siamese twins, hydrocephalus, star gazing posture, breech presentation and head flexion posture.

7. Giving examples in each case discuss the difference between the three major causes of infertility. [15 Marks]
