4. (a) Explain the “social learning theory”. [5 Marks]
(b) With illustrations show how social learning theory can be used to understand

postulate how an individual learns to engage in crime. [9 Marks]
5. (a) Write short notes on the following:

(ii) Psychiatric and clinical approaches to violence. [10 Marks]
(iii) Moral reasoning and crime. [5 Marks]
6. (a) “The relationship between mental illness and crime is complex.” Describe at least
three confounding factors that seem to cloud the evidence that link mental illness and crime. [3 Marks]
(b) Discuss at least five characteristics of offending associated with different types of
mental illness. [10 Marks]
(c) Why should there be greater criminality among mentally ill? [3 Marks]
(d) Discuss at least two risk management actions that can be employed by
professionals to prevent the risk that may be caused by a mentally ill offender.
