1. Explain the following as they relate to pastoral care

(c) St. Chrysostom’s four essential functions of pastoral care (4 Marks)
(d) Pastoral counseling (2 Marks)

2. For a pastor to be able to care for other people, s/he needs to gain a clear knowledge of
self. Using the Johari window,
a. Draw (and briefly explain) a clearly marked Johari window for the following
kinds of pastors:
i. Secretive
ii. Opening and sharing
iii. Deaf to criticism
iv. Secretive and deaf to criticism
v. Open, sharing, listening and understanding (15 Marks)

b. Discuss any 3 biblical truths about human beings that a pastor can apply to
gain a positive self-image. (5 Marks)

3. Mentoring should be a way of life for every pastor.
a. Explain 3 benefits of mentoring (3 Marks)
b. Discuss any 4 functions of a mentor (4 Marks)
c. How would you go about identifying a protégé? Give at least 5 things
you would look for (5 Marks)
d. Describe the 4 major stages of mentoring relationships. (8 Marks)

4. In a paragraph, explain the role and function of the following:
a. Prayer in pastoral counseling
b. Holy spirit in pastoral counseling
c. Faith in pastoral counseling
d. Sanctification (20 Marks)

5. You have been deployed to a new church with only 20 members. Using Bringing in a
crowd Principles, enumerated in Rick Warren’s book: Purpose Driven Church, discuss at
least five effective ways you would use to grow your membership to over 100 members in
your new station. (20 Marks)
