a) Explain briefly the various branches of labour laws and their usefulness (6marks)
b) According to employment Act 2007, explain ways in which an employer may protect employees wages (6marks)
c) State the provision of law with regard to oral and written contracts and penalties thereof (6marks) d) Give reasons which may constitute summary dismissal (6marks)
e) Explicate on legislation pertaining to protection of children in labour force (6marks)

Question 2
a) Differentiate between staff associations and employers’ associations as far as Trade Unions Act CAP 233 is concerned (10marks)
b) Section 29 (1) of employment act 2007 provide for maturity leave and paternity leave. But it has been claimed that there are too many leaves. Give your view on this and their impact on industrial relations in Kenya (10marks)

Comment on member contributions as propagated in NSSF ACT CAP 258. (20marks)

Question 4
“Welfare of employees is paramount”. Discuss with regard to occupational safety and Health Act (OSHA) 2007. (20marks)

a) Briefly discuss the factors which may render a strike illegal as per the labour relations act, 2007 (10marks)
b) Give a brief description of particulars which should be contained in a written contract of service (10marks)
