1. With ample illustrations, discuss the following terms and devices, demonstrating why they are
important in poetry.

2. Complete the following poem in at least ten lines:
When fire consumes a log

3. With reference to at least two poems you have read in this course, discuss why poets must
necessarily employ various levels of poetic licence in their works. (23 marks)

4. Closely analyse the attached peom, ‘Neon’ by Amin Kassam, paying attention to its
typography, diction, imagery and any other prominent features. (23 marks)

neon flashes in our skies
