(a) On the tracing paper provided, delimit the drainage basin with the base level at guide reference

(b) Calculate;
(i) Bifurcation ratios (4Mrks)
(ii) Basin area (2Mrks)
(iii) Stream density (4½Mrks)
(iv) Stream frequency (4½Mrks)
(c) Briefly, comment on the distribution of plantation and settlements and show how they
are related to the topography of the Machakos area. (10Mrks)

2. (a) As a part of preparation for an air photo mission, the camera was set with a 304 mm focal
length (f) and the altimeter to read an average of 6560 m above mean sea-level. In addition,
the terrain over which the aircraft was to fly had an average altitude of 2000m above mean
sea level. Using the above information, computer the expected photo-scale (8Mrks)
(b) Explain the merits of photographic parallax in the production of stereo –pairs. (4Mrks)
(c) With the aid of a well-labeled diagram, explain the principal components of a simple
photographic film. (8Mrks)
