Answer four Questions. Question one is compulsory

1. A computer system may contain several kinds of storage, each for a particular purpose. Assuming you are the system engineer giving a lecture to first years, briefly discuss five different types of storage devices that run on a computer system that you would offer for your lecture. (25 marks)

2. It is very difficult to define the fifth generation computers. Explain this statement with reference to artificial intelligence. (15 marks)

3. Tom had his computer working excessively slow because of the so many programs he had installed and personal files he had filled his hard disk with. To bring the machine back to its feet, Tom has to take two maintenance processes. Identify these processes, giving advantages of each. (15 marks)

4. Airlink, an indigenous passenger flight company wants a software for its internal operations. Identify and discuss the best type of software you would suggest for it, citing the merits and demerits of your choice. (15 marks)

5. Identify five types of operating systems and explain the distinction between them. (15 marks)

6. a) With reference to application softwares, explain the meaning of the term Graphical user interface. (3 marks)

b) Give four examples of application softwares and highlight the differences between them. (12 marks)
