b) Describe the following terms:

ii) Gender socialization (2marks)
iii) Gender roles (2marks)
c) State five important factors of gender equality in education (10marks)
d) List at least five characteristics of gender stereotypes (10marks)

Question 2
a) “Gender socialization is the foundation of gender discrimination in education”. Argue for and against this statement (10marks)
b) Discuss five main causes of gender imbalance in educational leadership positions in Kenya (10marks)

Question 3
a) List and explain at least ten gender policies in the Kenyan education system (10marks)
b) As a school Principal, describe ten policies in Kenyan education system you would like to initiate to encourage gender balance in your school. (10marks)

Question 4
a) Discuss at least ten factors that may hinder the government from achieving gender equity and equality in Kenya (10marks)
b) Assume that you have been appointed the gender officer in your organization. Explain some of the challenges you are likely to encounter in the process of mainstreaming gender in the organizations programmes (10marks)

Question 5
a) “Throughout the world, women students tend to cluster in humanities and social sciences while the men are more likely to study mathematics, science and technical subjects” (Kelly, 1992). Critically analyze this statement (10marks)
b) It has been argued that affirmative action in education focuses more on women to the detriment of men, especially the boy-child. Based on this argument, give recommendations to the policy makers and NGO on how the problem of the boy-child in Kenya could be addressed (10marks)
