2. A test was administered to 200 students and after scoring, the examiner sought
to find the discrimination indices for various items. In a certain item, a third
of the top achievers got it wrong while half of the low achievers got it right.
(i) Calculate the items discrimination index. [5 Marks]
(ii) Comment on the appropriateness or inappropriateness of the item. [3 Marks]
3. (i) Justify the use of paper and pencil tests in Kenya. [5 Marks]
(ii) Explain item difficulty. [3 Marks]
(iii) In a certain test, the examiner found out that some items had difficulty levels of
zero.
(a) Give a reason for this observation. [2 Marks]
(b) Comment on the appropriateness of these items. [2 Marks]
4. Explain any four characteristics of a good test. [8 Marks]
5. (i) Explain the classical theory of reliability. [3 Marks]
(ii) Test specifications aim at defining as clearly as possible the scope and emphasis
