(a) Differentiate between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. [2 marks]

(c) Briefly define the following terms: [3 marks]

(d) (i) Calculate the pH of a 3.0 x 10-2M KOH solution . [3 marks]
(ii) Calculate the pH of a mixture of 0.25M acetic acid and 0.1M sodium acetate. The PKa of acetic acid is 4.76. [3 marks]
(e) Give three properties of water that makes it a good medium for biological systems. [3 marks]
(f) Classify the following amino acids as neutral nonpolar, neutral polar, acidic, or basic.

(h) Convert the following Fischer structure of glucose into cyclic Haworth structures of the two anomers of glucose. Name the resultant anomers of glucose. [4 marks]
