‘The medium is the message’ was coined by Marshall Mcluhanu a reknown thinker of the 20th century. He argued that the mass medium used, often supersedes the content or message it carries. Explain Mcluhan`s statement in view of the new media which are more prominently used compared to traditional media. (30marks)

SECTION B

Question 2
The rapid development of mass media systems is stimulated by the growing demand for news and information at great speed. Using the definition of mass media, explain how the media`s perception of the role of providing news and information determines the content and style of presentation. (20marks)

Describe and give examples of how modern information and communication technology (ICT) development has converged mass media tools to create inter-connected mass media systems. (20marks)

Imbalances in the flow of information between the developed world and developing countries has created smaller and less powerful media systems in the third world. Describe factors that have led to these information disparities. (20marks)

Describe the characteristics of new media and using examples compare new media to traditional media. (20marks)
