Question One
’The burdens’ by John Ruganda addresses the socio-economic and political realities of Eastern Africa in the post colonial period. Give a critique. (20 Marks)

Question Two
Explain the main stylistic approaches employed by any of the following East African writers:-
Francis Imbuga.
David Mulwa.
Ngugi wa Thiong’o.
Meja Mwangi.

Question Three
Ngugi views land as a means of production and therefore a source of conflict between the few rich and the majority poor. Discuss. (20 Marks)

Question Four
Using two stories from the Anthology, when the sun goes down and other stories from Africa and Beyond by Emilia Ilieva and Waveney Olembo show how the theme of tradition is central to stories from Africa.

Question Five
Discuss the different levels of leadership in Ngugi Wa Thiong’o’s ’The River Between’. (20 Marks)
