QUESTION 1
The Food Processers Association in Kenya undertook a study of demand for locally processed food in the country. It was expected that the research findings would be of interest to food processers as well as government agencies related to agriculture, trade and industry. In the study demand for locally processed food was treated as a function of four variables namely locally processed food prices, income of consumers, government taxes on inputs and prices of other household needs like health and education. It was noted that there is heavy importation of low taxed food stuff that lowers demand for more expensive locally processed food.
In consideration of the above information answer the following questions.
a) State the research problem that would have guided the study. (4 marks)
b) Identify and label FOUR independent variables that were used in the study. (4 marks)
c) Identify and label the dependent variable that was used in the study. (1 mark)
d) Formulate FOUR objectives that the research wished to achieve. (4 marks)
