Answer question ONE and any other THREE questions
Question One
After all the preliminaries had been established to staff CONCORD GENERAL’S Cardiac surgery Unit, it was too early to fill the slots. Both Jim and Judy realized that the nurses needed to fill these positions were specialists. These nurses would have four (4) to six (6) years of nursing experience to qualify to work in the intensive care unit and at least three years of progressive intensive care experience.
Judy has contemplated cross training all the nurses currently working in the intensive care unit to handle the cardiac surgery units staffing needs, but the problems are anticipated. After investigations, Judy found substance to speculation only one-half of the ICU nurses want to be trained in the cardiac surgery units techniques. And if they do not want to be trained, a staffing shortage will result not only during the actual staffing of the cardiac surgery unit but also during the training and orientation program to construct the nurses.
The perplexities are real, but something must be done soon. The new unit is scheduled to open in a few weeks and is contingent on proper staffing.
