As a health system researcher in change of TKH hospital you have observed that there is an increase in the prevalence of abortions. You have chosen to investigate, and in so doing have come up with the following findings:
Monthly incidence of abortions of women exposed to a drug (XY) is 16 women-month per 1000 pregnant women.
Monthly incidence of abortions of women not exposed to the drug (XY) is 3 women per 1000 pregnant women
The relative risk of abortion among the exposed women against the unexposed is 5.
The attributable risk of the above is 0.013. using the above information.
Interpret the results of ((i) – (iv)) above and explain the difference between results (i) and (ii) (5mks)
In relation to health systems functions, explain what has failed and the solutions to the above problem in relation to (a) above.
