QUESTION ONE (30 MARKS)
Assume you have been employed by SME (small micro enterprise) outlet in Embu Town. The management of the organization has been experiencing challenges in reviving the organization, because they have been experiencing losses in the last three years 2013, 2012 and 2011.
As a newly employed graduate the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) appoints you to lead a team of researchers to assist come up with possible solutions to the inherent problem.
Answer the questions that follow:
a) Formulate a researchable topic to address the organization’s problem at hand. (4 Marks) b) Write three measurable hypothesis derived from the topic you have stated above. (6 Marks) c) Explain three qualities of a good hypothesis you have written. (3 Marks) d) State and explain three appropriate research designs that could be employed by the researcher. (9 Marks) e) Given that the said organization has 12 more micro outlets within Eastern region of Kenya; explain three appropriate sampling procedures the researcher would recommend. (8 Marks)

a) Review of related literature in research posses several challenges to novices. Outline and discuss five difficulties experienced by beginners in research when reviewing literature. (15 Marks) b) The application of a theoretical framework in a research cannot be overemphasized for various reasons. Discuss. (5 Marks)
QUESTION THREE (20 MARKS)
Data analysis is done after field inquiry in order to address study objectives. List and discuss five strategies available to researchers which they apply when analyzing data.
QUESTION FOUR (20 MARKS)
Data collection requires advance preparations such as writing appropriate study tools. Discuss the qualities of a good interview schedule and its administration to the respondents during field inquiry.
