Durco a manufacture of domestic appliances is witnessing distribution difficulties and a firm of consultant is called in to try to identify the firms’ problems. After several weeks of investigation the consultant present their report. In the report they suggest that the design option for distribution and transport network is a major problem. They also point out that investment in stocks is at a very high level. However the distribution to customers is very poor with frequent stock outs on important components.
