QUESTION ONE-COMPULSORY
Last year (2015) united nations developed the seventeen sustainable development goals to replace the millennium development goals as blue print for developing countries.
i. To what extent has Millennium Development Goals been achieved in Kenya. (10 marks)
ii. Discuss any six of the sustainable development goals.(5 marks)
iii. You have been appointed by the Government to head a task force that is investing on the impact of corruption in the economy and strategies that may be put in place to curb the vice. Write a report for presentation to the authorities concerned.(10 marks)
QUESTION TWO
a) Critiques of democracy argue that developing countries are not mature enough to embrace democracy. Highlighting the characteristics of democratic governments, discuss this statement. (10 marks)
b) Discuss the functions of International Monetary Fund (IMF) in development of developing nations. (5 marks)

A recent survey shows that while wealthy Kenyans are spending millions of shillings annually to educate their children on some of the best international schools in the country, millions of others are relying on the free primary education program from the government for their children education
a) Discuss how the above form of inequality is likely to impact on national development (8 marks)
b) Discuss any social stratification theory that explains the above situation (7 marks)

a) Explain the gains Kenya has achieved from the implementation of the country’s constitution of 2010. (7 marks)
b) Using the Marxism theory, discuss the origin of states. (8 marks)

a) It is not clear when exactly statehood came into being; however historical philosophers have come up with varied views on the origin of state. Discuss the social contract theory from the perspective of John Locke. (7 marks)
b) In the recent time, the government of Kenya has laid much emphasis on internal sources of funds to finance her annual budget. Identify any three major internal sources and explain the advantages and disadvantages of relying on internal sources of financing. (8 marks)
