1. Identify and discuss any six aspects that influence East African prose writers, giving examples from at least two novels and one short story you have read in this course. [30mrks]
2. Autobiographical writing in East Africa is one of the best channels to represent personal stories, while at the same time narrating the story of the nation. Discuss with reference to Immaculee Ilbagiza''s Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust.[20 mrks]
3. Analyse at last five major concerns in Ngugi wa Thiong''o Weep Not, Child, showing how such concern can be used to represent the East African condition. [20 mrks]
4. East African prose fiction is a useful tool to critique the post-independence politics in the region. Discuss with reference to Njuguna wa Mutonya''s The crackdown and Mary Karoro Okurut''s The Invisible Weevil. [20mrks]
5. Being a product of the traditional oral narratives, the modern short story in East Africa often fall back on the traditional set up. Discuss with reference to any two short stories studied in this course. [20 mrks]
