Explain why physical, chemical and biological characteristics are important qualities in
deciding the type of wastewater treatment.

Describe the functions of a conventional trickling filter in the treatment of
wastewater.

Describe in detail the causative and preventive measures for filariasis.

Conventional water-borne sewerage may not be applicable in rural areas.

Explain why waste stabilization ponds are a preferred option for wastewater

Describe in detail how drainage is used as a suitable engineering method to prevent the
transmission of malaria.

disposal. Discuss their merits and demerits explaining the conditions favourable for their
