1.a)Explain the term "bioremediation" as used in water quality restorations practices.(4 marks)
b)i)Explain the factors that have to be considered in selecting a sampling site for water quality monitoring (7 marks)
(ii)Describe the information that must be provided for any sample marked for water quality testing.

c)Explain the "typical monitoring objectives" commonly used in designing a sampling network.(10 marks)
2.(a)Write short notes on advanced instrumental analysis of water quality (12 marks)
(b)Calculate how long it would take a water body with surface area of 150000km^2 and an average depth of 150m to recover completely from contamination of pollutants if the rate of outflow is 18000m^3 per minute, assuming that the pollutant never settled in the bottom of the sediment. (8 marks)
3.Discuss the potential health risks that may be associated with domestic use of an open borehole within unconsolidated aquifer. (20 marks)
