SECTION A:

A 40 year old woman with healed burn injuries sustained from a fire tragedy
seven weeks ago presents with symptoms of sleeplessness, nightmares and feeling
low most of the time. She has experienced suicidal ideations on several occasions
and lack of energy. On family history, she is married with 3 children aged 10, 18
and 25 years. She has no previous history of mental illness. The burn injuries
have disfigured her face. Discuss her management with particular emphasis on
specific psychological assessment tools that you would use in her evaluation and
treatment giving reasons for your choice of tools. How would you monitor her
treatment response objectively?

A company wants to hire staff for a position that requires a high degree of skill in
dealing with other people and high levels of psychological stress. The firm has
shortlisted 3 candidates who meet all the requirements and wants to pick the best
suited based on psychological profile/qualities of the person for the job. List the
tests you would administer to these groups explaining the purpose of each.
Describe how two of the tests are administered, and their interpretation.

Describe one psychological tool used for assessing depression in adult population
including its psychometric properties and its application.

A high school in Nairobi has been experiencing unrests for the last two terms
following change in administration. Several reasons for these unrests have been
put across such as drug abuse, poor school management, overloaded syllabus,
political interference and student indiscipline. You have been appointed a
psychological consultant to assess the reasons for the cause of unrest among the
students. Discuss how you will conduct this assessment and describe giving
reasons for your choices, the assessment inventories you will use. Explain
particular precautions to consider when interpreting your findings.
