Q1.
In 2000, three employees of Pap Pap Ltd were suspended for protesting against the
management decision to employ people for one particular tribe. After appearing before
disciplinary committee, they were dismissed for being “disloyal” and unbecoming conduct.
The management contented that in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, there is no clause
calling for the removal of the management by employees, as they (three) had acted ultra-vires. These employees have reported this case to the union, as the union boss how would you handle this case. [30 marks]

Explain the effect of globalization and liberalization on industrial relation and industrial worker in Kenya. [15 marks]

Discuss the basic principles of Trade Unions and explain how these trade unions activities are influenced by these principles. [15 marks]

Explain the right of office bearers and member of a recognized trade union as provided for by labour laws. [15 marks]
