1. In a certain function there were 10,000 people. Of these 3/20 were men, 2/5 were women and the rest were children. How many more children than men were there?

2. Three boys contributed some money to buy a text book. Onyango contributed one quarter, Rono one third and Njoroge one sixth of the price. Then they found that Sh. 90 was still needed in order to buy the book. What was the price of the book?

3. Maina planted a quarter of his shamba with maize, a third with potatoes and a half of the remainder with beans. The rest he planted sukuma wiki. What fraction of the shamba was planted with sukuma wiki?

4. Onacha spent 1/9 of his salary on food, 3/4 of the remainder on school fees and the rest on leisure. If his salary was Sh. 5,400, how much money did he spend on leisure?

5. Sara and Lucia shared a piece of cloth such that Lucia got three times as much as Sara. What fraction of the cloth did Sara get?

6. The fractions 2/3, 5/6, 3/4 and 7/12 are to be arranged from the largest to the smallest. Which is the correct order?

7. Mpayai sold 1/4 of his cows to Kirui, 1/5 to Kayai and 1/8 to Mshano. The number of cows sold to Kayai was 16. What was the total number sold to both Kirui and Mshano?

8. The fractions 1/2, 2/5 and 2/3 are to be arranged in order from the largest to the smallest. Write the correct order.

9. In a hall there are 60 benches. Each bench can accomodate 6 adults or 10 children. If half of the benches are occupied by children and the other half by adults, how many people are seated in this hall?
