1. Kamau wants to get change for a Sh. 1000 note. The change is to consist of Sh. 500, Sh. 200, Sh. 100 and Sh. 50 notes. What is the smallest number of notes he can get?

2. Musa bought the following items from a kiosk:

3kg tomatoes @ Sh. 25
1/2 kg of onions @ Sh. 30
2kg packet of maize flour for Sh. 38
1/2 kg of sugar @ Sh. 44

He paid for the items using a Sh. 200 note. How much balance did he get?

3. Kigen bought goods worth Sh. 2400. He gave the shopkeeper three Sh. 1000 notes. He received the balance in equal numbers of Sh. 200 and Sh. 100. What total number of notes did he receive?

4. A shopkeeper bought sodas as follows:

Two crates of 300ml @ Sh. 415
Three crates of 500ml @ Sh. 563
Five crates of one litre @ Sh. 415
He then spent Sh. 50 on transport.
If he had five thousand shillings, how much money did he remain with?

5. A man bought 2 1/2 kilograms of meat at Sh. 95.00 a kilo. How much did he pay for the meat?

Bread Sh. 22.50 per loaf
Kimbo Sh. 90.00 per kg
Salt Sh. 1.60 per packet.

Mueni was sent by her mother to the Duka to buy 4kgs of sugar, 2 loaves of bread, 1kg tin of Kimbo and 2 packets of salt. How much change did she get from a Sh. 1000 note?

7. Halima decided to sell four incur and two cows in order to raise money for school fees for her son in form 1. She sold the incur at Sh. 1156 each and the cows at Sh. 5675 each. How much money was she left after saying school fees for Sh. 12,000?

8. Njagi bought 3 1/2 kilograms of sugar at Sh. 86.50 per kg. How much money did he pay?

9. Mohamed bought 2 kilograms of sugar, 1 packet of tea, 2 half litre packets of oils and 1 loaf of bread from a shop. If the prices for these items were as follows:

1 kilogram of sugar Sh. 87.20
1 packet of tea leaves Sh. 7.60
1/2 litre packet of milk Sh. 22.75
1 loaf of bread Sh. 23.20.

How much change did he get after giving the shopkeeper 6 fifty shillings notes?

10. After a day''s sale, a butcher had the following coins in the cash box:

750 one shilling coins
62 fifty cent coins
118 ten cent coins
224 five cent coins
