There are art movements that featured strongly in the 20th Century. Among them are Surrealists and Conceptual Artists. Identify and explain the philosophies of each movement and name at least two artists and one each of their prominent art works. Describe the content of the works and show the features that characterize the movement. [30 marks]
Q2.
The following three art movements generated conflicts which resulted into various art movements of the 20th Century. They are Neo-Classicism, romanticism and Realism.
(i)
Briefly trace the ancestry of classicism from antiquity to Neo-Classicism.
(ii)
Identify and analyze at least one artwork that reflect the classical ideals of the various periods. [20 marks]

Who are the proponents of Constructivism and Suprematism? Identify their works that best describe their philosophical positions. Use simple sketches to illustrate your points. [20 marks]
Q4.
Action-Painting? ?? Otherwise officially known as ??????.? What is the official name of the painting style that has given new definitions to the act and process of painting? Identify one of the most prominent proponents of the movement and describe the process of action painting. Give examples of works in this category. [20 marks]
