Question 1. Compulsory
a) State THREE aims of education in ancient Sparta. (6 marks)
b) Show how the educational ideas of EITHER John Locke (1632- 1704) OR John.
Dewey (1859- 1952) are relevant today. (12 marks)
C) Using relevant examples explain any FOUR challenges facing Early Childhood.
Education in Kenya today and propose an appropriate remedy for each one of them. (12 marks)

2.a) Giving relevant examples, distinguish between vocational and technical education. (5 marks)
b) Discuss any FIVE factors that influenced the provision of Vocational and Technical education to Africans during the colonial era. (15 marks)
3.a) Outline FOUR reasons why Christian missionaries provided western education to Africans during the colonial period. (4 marks)
B) Discuss any FOUR measures that were initiated by Africans to enhance access to formal western education between 1910 and 1963. (16 marks)
