Critically discuss the differences and similarities between oral and written poetry.

Which of the poems studied in the anthology Poems from East Africa impressed you the most? In specific literary terms, discuss why this poem cut such an impression on you.

Present a concise explication ofthe poem below:
AMA TESHE, A.D: The Tortoise Song
Mine is a slow rhythm
Through the ecstasy of life,
treading my foot upon
blunted, harmless rocks.
Mine is a cautious pose
amid the shots and boots,
retrieving my head
into the trunk of safety.

Let the ostrich run
endless distances
to destinations which
Spell unexpected doom;
Let the eagles fly,
their wings full of pride,
to mindless skies
which mock the giant
Mine will be a slow pace
through the tunnels of emotion
retrieving my head
when reason fails others.
