1. Kantai bought 200 chickens whose average weight was 1.5 kg. The buying price per kilogram was sh. 150. He then sold each chicken for sh. 250. What percentage profit to the nearest whole number, did he make?

2. A businesslady bought 10 bags of maize at sh. 220 each. She paid sh. 10 per bag for transport. She later put the maize in 9 larger bags and sold each bag at sh. 250. How much loss did she make?

3. Florence bought eighteen bags of fruits at sh. 300 per bag. She spent sh. 700 on transport. The fruits in two bags got spoilt and she sold the rest at sh. 520 per bag. How much profit did she make?

4. A shopkeeper bought 5 trays of eggs at sh. 120 per tray. Ten eggs broke and she sold the rest at sh. 6 per egg. If a tray holds 30 eggs, what percentage profit did she make?

5. A book distributor buys books from a publisher at a price which is 40% less than the marked price. What profit does the distributor make on a book marked sh. 90.

6. Wanja bought fruits which were being sold at 3 fruits for sh. 2.00. She then sold then at 3 fruits for sh. 3.50. What profi did she make after selling 450 fruits?

7. A vegetable vendor spent sh. 150 in buying 24 kg carrots, 16 kg cabbages and 20 kg tomatoes. He also spent sh. 10 on transportation. He sold the carrots at sh. 2.00 per kg, cabbages at sh. 1.50 per kg and tomatoes at sh. 4.00 per kg. What was his percentage loss?

8. Njoroge and Maina are fruit dealers. One day each of them bought 300 fruits at the same price. Njoroge sold his fruits at 5 fruits for sh. 2.00. Maina sold his at 4 fruits for sh. 2.00. Maina made a profit of sh. 20. What loss did Njoroge make?

9. Halima made a 25% profit after selling a dress for sh. 500 and 20% loss after selling a pair of shoes for sh. 100. What was the total cost for the dress and the pair of shoes?

10. A tray contains 30 eggs. The buying price for a tray of eggs is sh. 48.00 and the selling price of one egg is sh. 1.80. Mwamburi bought 3 trays of eggs. 12 eggs got broken. He then sold the remaining eggs. What loss did he make?
